Presentation to Coverack

Eleanor McGillie, representing The Western Morning News, presents Joan Jearsley with Coverack's certificate of commendation.

Calor Cornish Village of the Year Competition
The Calor Village of the Year awards for Cornwall were made on Friday 29th August in Truro. Coverack was one of the five Cornish villages to be short-listed, and Joan Kearsley was invited to attend the award ceremony. Patty Murphy, Jan Coombe and Peter Wood, went over to Truro with Joan.

A plaque was presented to St Day, the winning village, by James Addison representing Calor, and now St Day will go forward next year, to the regional competition for the best village in the South West. The other villages on the short list were Coverack, Week St Mary, Kingsand and Cawsand, and Wilcove. They all received a framed certificate of commendation, presented by Eleanor McGillie. Each village was also given individual suggestions of what they might do, to further enhance their own local community.
