I am pleased to report on another great year for Coverack Space 2000. A summary
of the events of the last year is shown on the PowerPoint display so I will
not refer to it in detail but just mention some of the highlights and to thank
all those who have contributed to the success of the project so far.
Thanks to external funding we were able to stage a special programme of children’s
events including all the usual craft, sandcastle and beach activities as well
as several extras events using artists and craft people
Carol Jane helped us receive a grant from Abbey for the design and painting
of a new mural for the school and a fun day.
The Local Network Fund enabled us to stage a number of craft days; a children’s
art festival and exhibition; a drama workshop and production and a willow lantern
project culminating in a procession on Christmas Tree Night.
Thanks to all the local businesses and the Local Network Fund who supported
our bonfire night financially and all those who helped make the evening such
a success.
Our thanks to all the Committee for their unstinting support to all the various
activities; to Annabel for taking up the role of secretary and to the website
sub committee who have developed what is one of the best community websites
in the country.
Particular thanks to Tim for his meticulous attention to our finances for the
last eight years.
Thanks to Peter Wood and team who produced and marketed the DVD Coverack Past
and present. The DVD continues to sell well and supports Coverack Space 2000
financially.
Thanks to Tora for the co-ordination of all the activities and the creativity
in developing new initiatives; to Jo Bateson now directing the Online Centre;
and to Caroline Beadle for taking forward the summer programme this year
Coverack Space 2000 was originally established to create space within the school
for education and community use and to provide ICT equipment for school and
community use. What we have achieved is much more – a wide range of adult
education; free computer courses for many local people through the LSC; Online
facilities used by local people and visitors; a great programme of children’s
events and art courses; a DVD of the village life and history and a community
website.
The project is financially secure and there is much more that can be achieved
and I am sure that the committee will continues to look creatively at ways in
which it can serve the school and community in the future.
Thanks also to Steve and The Paris for hosting the AGM and to all who took part
in the pancake races
