Coverack Gig Club - Row for Fun, to Keep Fit, or to Race.

    A LITTLE ABOUT US

Plans for our own gig and sponsored by the village and local businesses started in 1999, when after much hard work, the 'Lark' [named after the last 'Seine' or pilchard fishing boat based at Coverack] was launched in August 2000. She was built by D.J.Currah at Looe.

Following our first full season in 2001 we have gone from strength to strength, competing in many of thelocal race meets and the World Championships held in the Isles of Scilly in May each year. All our men's,women's and junior teams challenge for, and are amongst, the medals for the events. Last year saw ourmen's crew won the internationally renowned river Thames race from Richmond to Tower Bridge. Gainingfirst place over the 22 mile course was testimony to the commitment and training of the whole club during 2002.
