Two of Coverack's leading athletes
arrive at the finish together

In a new venture for Coverack Space 2000, a select group of villagers met at the Paris Hotel on Shrove Tuesday for a series of seven pancake races. After some practice throws, resulting in the addition of small amounts of tarmac to the recipes, the races began. Some intending competitors forgot both their pancakes and pans. However the day was saved by the generous spirit of those competitors better prepared, who kindly lent their valued pancakes and pans to the unready.

Annual General Meeting of Coverack Space 2000

After the races the competitors and organisers retired to the Paris Hotel for a pancake feast, and to conduct the Annual General Meeting of Coverack Space 2000.

Rod Pierce, the retiring Chairman, reviewed the successful work of Coverack Space 2000 from its initial provision of an upstairs in Coverack School, then the many IT courses provided for villagers, the provision of the Online Centre in the School, the IT equipment for the School, and currently the activities in Coverack, such as the programme of children’s activities, art courses, Bonfire Night celebration and the Pancake Race. Rod thanked the many people who have contributed to the work of Coverack Space 2000 over the years. Rod was thanked for all of his work, and it was recognised that his dedication and skill in acquiring funding have been a key to our success.    View Chairman's Report.

Tim Hawkins, the Treasurer of Coverack Space 2000 reported that due to external funding, (such as that from the Local Network Fund and the Community ICT project), and as a result of our own fund raising efforts, we are financially secure at present.

The election of officers for the forthcoming year then followed:
Chairman - Joan Kearsley (from Easter)
Treasurer - Tim Hawkins
Secretary - Annabel Lee
Vice Chair - Peter Wood
