The sun shone for Coverack’s third Easter Fun Run a welcome change from last year’s wet conditions. The Easter Fun Run organised by Coverack Space 2000 raises funds for both the community group Coverack Space 2000 and the RNLI. More than 50 runners took part, both locals and those holidaying in the village. Funds collected on the day totalled over £300 with more sponsor money to be still to be collected.
There are two routes, a 4 mile and a 1 mile route, both start at Coverack Primary School, the runners wind their way along the paths and roads to finish back in the village. Both routes are quite challenging including; cliff paths, steep gradients and uneven terrain, the runners certainly have to be fit. The race finished at The Fisherman’s Rest by the harbour, which meant, with the glorious weather, many went to cool off in the sea.
Many of those taking part have run every year now and although this is a ‘Fun Run’ rather than a race the participants certainly put a lot of effort into their running. This year 8 year old Reggie Langton finished first in the 4 mile route beating many experienced adult runners. He was closely followed by Josh Wilson-Hone. Joe Tanswell finished first in the 1 mile route.
The Easter Fun Run is a great community event, it is only successful thanks to a big team effort. Many thanks to those who generously gave their time to marshal, provide first aid cover, man water stations and more. Thanks to so many people the event was a big success that lead to an afternoon of fun, fitness and fund raising.         Report by Caroline Beadle

The path alongside St Peter's Church Hall has been closed for building work and will remain closed for about twenty weeks from early April 2011.
