Good Friday

Church members
making a stone cross
on Coverack beach

Joan Kearsley explains:

For the past three years, on Good Friday at midday, St. Peter's Church members plus visitors and villagers have gathered to build a large cross of stones on the beach. This activity is an expression of prayer by symbolically placing stones in the form of the Cross. This year the weather was fine, sea calm and the sun was shining while the people worked like busy bees. Rev Brian Swabey blessed those who helped and prayed over the Cross. The people were asked to write a prayer message in the sand and then Hot Cross Buns were handed out.
