Coverack Bonfire Night Celebrations A beautiful evening combined with a low tide and a sandy beach meant that Coverack really could ‘shine’ on Bonfire Night. The community Group Coverack Space 2000 organises an annual bonfire night and firework display. The aim is to have a community evening that covers it’s costs and is a safe place for people to watch and enjoy fireworks. It is a huge community effort that leads to a great evening with help coming from every area of the community. Coverack is the perfect venue with an area for the BBQ, homemade cakes, drinks and glow sticks on the Bus Shelter Green. From here there is a wonderful view of the Fireworks set off from the harbour and we also have space for a large Bonfire on the Beach. We are a small community group that works hard to put on an event like this. People help in any way that they can whether by making cakes to sell on the night or by helping to build the bonfire and everything in between. November 5th fell on a Saturday this year which meant that it proved to be an exceptionally popular event. We were quite overwhelmed by the turnout and support. Our aim is to cover costs so that we can continue to run this event in the future and we achieved our aim. Coverack has so many thatch cottages that the reassuring presence of St. Keverne Fire Brigade was very much appreciated. Trevor Roberts coordinated a spectacular Fireworks display. A team of volunteers worked very hard all evening behind the stalls The Barbeque team worked especially hard and found there was a great demand. A big THANK YOU to everyone who was involved in any small way. The evening was a real community effort that meant that so many people had a great time, thanks to everyone who helped and supported Coverack. Report from Caroline Beadle |

affordable homes for local people. Coverack residents received a questionnaire on 15th August asking for their views on the best site(s). |
Frying Tonight...Caroline Boucher reveals Britain’s best chippies, from beachfront restaurants to urban secrets. Times Supplement of 13th August. "Perched on the water’s edge of this unspoilt fishing village, you can either have a takeaway or eat in the restaurant with its wonderful views. The emphasis is on local fish – gurnard, megrim, crab and lobster."
