The 40th Christmas Day Swim

101 people braved a cold East wind to take part in the 40th Christmas Day swim in Coverack Harbour.
It all started in 1968 when Dr Ian Wort and Derek Carey placed a bet in the Paris Hotel. The prize was a bottle of scotch, for swimming across the mouth of the harbour. Dr Wort was the winner, but being a non-drinker he gave the value, eight shillings and sixpence, to cancer research.
Since then £63,346 has been raised for cancer research, with a probable figure of £5,000 to be added for this year's swim.

Mrs Angela Richards will be taking over the duties of Post Mistress in Brenda's Shop in the next few weeks. It is hoped that the community will support the new venue and also the nearest Post Office which is at St. Keverne.
We all wished Penny a very happy retirement for the coming years.
