The main purpose of the school is to provide primary education for children of Coverack and the surrounding countryside, as it has done for well over 100 years.

Coverack Community School has been enhanced by the space 2000 project that has enabled everyone at school free access to computers. The computers were also available to anyone in the village, out of school hours. This facility was partially funded by the community and cost over £100,000. The Online Centre moved to the Wave Cafe near the Post Office in April 2008.
